BIO
I am a visual artist, lecturer and researcher. I teach in the Art & Research programme (since 2021) and Photography, Film & the Digital (since 2023) at St. Joost School of Art & Design, and conduct research at the Centre of Applied Research for Art, Design and Technology (CARADT). I am also a member of the art collective YAFF and the art alliance The Long Tail of Art.
My artistic practice centres on the relationship between art, shared experience and ethical reflection. Through installations, essays, workshops and collaborative projects, I develop situations in which artistic practice creates space for collective inquiry into current dilemmas in art, education and society, and the assumptions and reflexes that shape them. I hold a background in Fine Arts (cum laude, St. Joost School of Art & Design) and Applied Ethics (MA, Utrecht University).

Art is our only hope
Screens, water, 3D-animation, soundscape, acrylic one.
(2017)
How do we learn to live with technological progress while our bodies remain bound to mortality? My work is a philosophical-essayistic expression of a longing for nature, but also of the irreversible technological conditions that humanity faces. The installation is a personal quest to find my place on this earth. In my work, I search for origins, tradition, the modern world, nature, the cosmos, and the convergence of these elements. The connection between the cosmos and nature is the driving force behind this installation, with Art Is Our Only Hope as its overarching title, referring to the impossible task of being human. Art is one of many constructs that help keep us afloat. The title places a heavy burden on art. The donkey named Hope represents transition and stands as a symbol of the ultimate bearer of art. I seek moments of coherence and understanding of the world.
